This course, crafted by Professor José Luis Vega from the University of Salamanca, spans 95 hours. It incorporates 35 hours of theoretical content and 60 hours of hands-on practice with actual Spanish students.

The 35 theory hours offer flexibility, allowing you to complete them at your own pace from the comfort of your home. Throughout the 60 hours of practical experience, you’ll engage in observations under the guidance of a personal teacher or tutor.

There are many ELE teacher courses out there, but “few incorporate a practical component as vital and beneficial as this one…“.

This sentiment is shared by 263 students who have completed the course to date, including Susana Gallego Pelegrín, who remarked:

"It has been a very positive experience and I am delighted to have done the course. To follow the progress of the classes and to have the opportunity to teach the classes myself afterwards is a great opportunity. Thank you!"

What are the objectives of this course?

Our aim is to offer you the opportunity to take a look at the many facets of the pedagogy of Spanish as a foreign language in the hope of opening up new horizons and sparking interest in the different and complex aspects of the teaching and learning process.

How does this course differ from other courses organised by other training centres?

The coolest part? This course is super hands-on. And guess what? You’ll have your own teacher from our team keeping a close eye on things, making it all personalised and awesome.

Also:

  • Practical training is carried out in small groups with international students.
  • The cost is much lower than any of those out there.
  • You will have the opportunity to meet other experienced ELE teachers, solve any doubts and share experiences and anecdotes.
  • And don’t forget, we’ve got special deals with these awesome universities mentioned below. Their ELE Master’s students get to rock their practical training right here at our school. Cool, right?

FAQ about the Spanish teacher training course

The first Monday of each month throughout the year.

Of course, although many concepts that appear in the theoretical part may be unfamiliar and difficult to understand. However, university studies are required for enrolment in this course.

The practical component is 60 hours, so the idea is that you join any of our intensive Spanish language courses (20 class lessons per week, Monday to Friday from 10.00 h to 13.30 h) and finish in three weeks.

If your availability does not allow it, we can negotiate other possibilities, but the first one is the most advisable because otherwise your course would take too long. Please note that we do not always have afternoon classes available, for example in summer.

We will send you an email with the course material and the evaluation, which you will have to send back to us once you have answered the questions. You can do this as a word document or as a pdf.

As you wish and as you like. We only ask you to let us know in writing how much time you think you will need to submit the evaluation, and don’t forget that you can do this part at home or wherever you feel convenient, and you don’t need Internet to do it.

No, it is an introductory course in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.

We don’t teach you grammar, we teach you how to teach it – even if it sounds like a tongue twister.

As soon as you send us the evaluation we can start looking at your availability and that of our courses to agree on a date. We prefer it to be as soon as possible after finishing the theoretical part and receiving the corrected evaluation, without pauses and with a serious commitment to meet the established deadlines, but we cannot set a fixed date until the time comes.

By “without breaks” we mean that it makes no sense to do, for example, a week of practical training, then a few days off, then another week, then a few days off….

Remember, and this is very important, that you are going to be part of a group class and that it is illogical and totally unpedagogical for you to do your practical in parts, weeks or single days. If you need to finish your practical part as soon as possible, let us know when you enrol and we will take it into account.

Mainly in the morning, but afternoons are also possible, although not always; it depends on the availability of the courses.

As in the previous answer, we always recommend the morning from 10.00 am to 1.30 pm from Monday to Friday, although there may be other options.

None, just let us know in writing so that we can take it into account. That said, if more than THREE MONTHS elapse between the delivery of the evaluation and the completion of the internship without hearing from you, your course will be cancelled for obvious reasons.

We believe that this is sufficient time to inform us of any anomalies.

Not at all; we have teachers who have not done this course. Having said that, we would like to remind you that we have a job pool for future recruitment where we include people who have successfully completed the course and who we can use to expand our staff or to replace our teachers.

We always want to have experienced people in our team.

Of course it will help you, but we cannot lie to you and tell you that you will find a job as soon as you finish the course. It has a very important practical component that will help you in your training as a teacher and, therefore, in your job search.

There are not many courses on the market with such a strong practical component as ours; you will have worked with international students of Spanish and this will be highly valued when it comes to hiring you.

Instituto Hispánico de Murcia is a private company with no links whatsoever with public education, and as it is not a course organised or given by the Instituto Cervantes, it is therefore obviously not approved by it either. Therefore, the answer is no.

That said, our qualifications have the same value as those of any other private company at national and international level and the diplomas and certificates awarded in our courses are recognised by all types of institutions.
