The "Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera" or Spanish as a Foreign Language Diploma, is the only certificate for non-native speakers of Spanish officially recognised by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Culture and the Instituto Cervantes, so this is a very important document in terms of employment opportunities.
Levels are:
- Diploma de Español Nivel A1 (Starter level): This qualification attests to sufficient linguistic ability for a very basic range of the most commonly simple expressions used in the Spanish-speaking world and in order to satisfy inmediate needs of a concrete type.
- Diploma de Español Nivel B1 (Inicial / Beginner level): This qualification attests to sufficient linguistic ability for understanding and responding appropriately in most normal day-to-day situations and for expressing desires and needs in a basic way.
- Diploma de Español Nivel B2 (Intermedio / Intermediate level): This qualification validates sufficient linguistic ability to get by in average day-to-day situations in normal communication circumstances, which do not require specialized use of the language.
- Diploma de Español Nivel C2 (Superior / Proficiency level): This qualification accredits the necessary linguistic competence to integrate in situations requiring an advanced use of the language and knowledge of the cultural customs embedded within it.
Exam dates and fees are annually established by the Ministry of Education and Culture and they normally take place in May, August and November. For further details please click here.
Our course runs for 25 hours a week. Each day, during the first two hours, we study the possible grammatical problems and their practical application adapted to the different levels of language knowledge. In the next three hours we cover the subjects of specific aspects of the exam: specialised vocabulary, writing skills, oral expression, listening and reading comprehension, debates on current issues, etc.
We also review previous year's exams and you will have mock exams to check the study progress of each student.
For your interest, you will be able to take specific classes based on mock exams only.
