Online Summer Camp

School trips and summer camps canceled because of COVID-19?

As a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, many students are isolated at home, posing unique challenges for parents and educators alike. Instituto Hispánico de Murcia is offering virtual Spanish programming, helping juniors & teenagers find community online and providing a respite for parents who are likely juggling both work and childcare unexpectedly during the day.

Instead of the solitary-staring-at-the-screen experience you may be picturing, our programmes offer interactive projects, activities and Spanish learning. Participants will be able to choose from a variety of sessions that range from learning how to make paella to playing through a, e.g., 2 day-long treasure hunt.

And they will connect with local Spanish host families and Spanish students of the same age. Our mission is to build a global online community where participants build, play, and learn from one another.

Our virtual International Summer Camp is offered on platforms like AnyMeeting (mainly), Zoom, and Instagram. These sessions can provide participants with a sense of community and consistency during the crisis. And they are tailored to students´ interests: instruction is hands-on and highly personalized. In fact, we only accept a maximum of 10 participants per camp

And remember, we’re rated 4.8 stars out of 5 with independent reviews in Google from students from around the world.

Other schools provide Spanish courses. We offer experiences!

All taxes included.

We offer two full-fledged virtual trips addressed to juniors and teenagers with a wide range of learning opportunities throughout personal attention, Apps & websites, and we can provide the ideal activity during a "staycation" or a fill-in between other activities.

Also, online meetings with Spanish students of their same age and with a local host family will improve their Spanish competence and skills.

What will kids do at Camp?

Depending on their needs, they might design worlds, craft stories, survive and thrive, build adventure maps, improve their play and more. Remember that Spanish will be the target language and activities will be chosen according to their level of Spanish.

Also they will make new friends from Spain and all over the world who will be joining this programme, and learn valuable skills like:

  • Problem-solving.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
  • Planning and organization.
  • Community building.

Amongst others, and according to participants´ needs and Spanish level, we will be using these Apps (please note that these are only a sample):

  • DIY, designed to encourage hands-on learning through a series of “challenges" in areas such as drawing, photography, animation, inventing, and science.
  • Made with Code from Google. A wide range of projects, including making emojis, animating GIFs, and composing music, is designed to ignite a passion for coding in teen girls. (There's no stopping boys from doing these projects, though).
  • Google Arts & Culture puts the worlds of art, science, history, and travel at your fingertips. In addition to letting you take a selfie and compare your face to images from great works of art, it also lets you find information about artists, museums, historic figures, places, and historic events.
  • Kanopy. You can access all the free entertainment and educational videos this app has to offer. Most of the content choices on Kanopy are similar to what patrons of a well-stocked library would expect: well-selected, award-winning films; independent and foreign films; popular kids' and adults' TV series; educational shows.

Our goal is to ignite a passion for learning, cooperation, and creation for all of our participants.
